5 must reads while stuck in quarantine

IMG_4599.JPG

i have never been much of a reader simply because i never “had the time” or i just didn’t feel like getting lost in someone else’s story. but i’ve been finding myself having a lot of free time recently so i’ve decided to put down my phone and pick up a few good reads! if you have any suggestions be sure to drop them in the comments below!

Becoming

grab the popcorn (and tissues) for this one. many of us know Michelle Obama as the wife of the forty-fourth president but she is so much more than that. this woman literally was the first Elle Woods by graduating from Harvard Law - talk about breaking the glass ceiling!

Educated

do you ever read a book and think there is no way this really happened. well, this is one of those! once i finished this book i was in awe that this was not written by a creative genius but was actually someone’s life! this book will keep you flipping as you learn about how Tara Westover grew up in Idaho and didn’t step foot into a classroom until she was 17.

Where the Crawdad’s Sing

this is the next book on my list! i haven’t officially started this one yet but it has been recommended to me by many family members and friends! this mystery novel takes place in a quiet town in North Carolina and has an ending you’ll never see coming (so I’ve been told).

The Myth of the Nice Girl

if you choose to read one book on this list, let it be this one! this book talks about how women struggle in the workplace. specifically how women are labeled as weak if they are too nice but if they are tough they are bitchy. grab a blanket and curl up with this book if you want advice on how to take your career to the next level.

Next Level Basic: The Definitive Basic Bitch Handbook

okay, let’s get real for a second. i am truly a sucker for reality TV specifically the entire Bravo network channel. but Vanderpump Rules is probably number one on the list of binge-worthy reality TV that I vicariously live through. Stassi Schroeder’s hilarious guidebook tells you to truly embrace yourself for who you are and that being basic is okay!
